„Playing with silence”: ORGATEC 2026

“Playing with silence”: Nowy Styl brings together acoustics, design and the circular economy at ORGATEC 2026

  • Joint presentation: Nowy Styl and its brand Kusch+Co will showcase approximately 20 new products and their latest solutions for modern workplaces and public spaces at ORGATEC 2026.
  • “Playing with silence”: Acoustic comfort, thoughtful design and responsible practices will take centre stage.
  • From the first sketch to a second life: Prototypes developed as part of the “re competition” and the use2 concept will demonstrate how circular economy principles can be integrated into different stages of a product’s lifecycle.

ORGATEC 2026
27–30 October 2026
Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany
Hall 6.1 | Stand C-028

What truly matters does not always make a noise. Under the theme “Playing with silence”, Nowy Styl and Kusch+Co will demonstrate at ORGATEC 2026 how to create spaces that support people while making responsible use of resources.

Silence does not mean the complete absence of sound. It creates room for concentration, helps reduce sensory overload and allows us to focus on what matters most: clarity of thought, new ideas and meaningful connections with others.

Yet “Playing with silence” represents an approach that goes beyond interior acoustics. Thoughtful design requires awareness and decisions made with their long-term consequences in mind. This applies to the choice of materials, manufacturing processes and how products are used, as well as what happens to them at the end of their first lifecycle.

What truly matters does not always need to be visible or loud. This applies to both good acoustics and responsible design. Many of the decisions that shape the quality of a space and its environmental footprint are made long before a product finds its place within it. At ORGATEC, we want to demonstrate how these decisions are interconnected and how much of a difference they can make.

Acoustic comfort: space for concentration and communication
Open and flexible work environments encourage the exchange of ideas and collaboration. However, accommodating different activities within a single space also presents acoustic challenges for designers. More than 60% of employees identify noise as one of the factors affecting their comfort in the workplace.

Good acoustics is not about eliminating sound entirely. The goal is to create a balanced environment that supports concentration, communication and collaboration.

Nowy Styl and Kusch+Co will demonstrate how to design workspaces and relaxation areas that respond to diverse user needs – from focused work and moments of quiet, through confidential conversations, to informal meetings and teamwork.
Circular economy: from the first sketch to a second life
Responsible design begins at the very first stage of product development. This principle formed the foundation of the “re competition”, initiated and organised by Nowy Styl with scientific support from the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy (CCPE).

Participants were challenged to develop a concept for an upholstered seating product made entirely from a single base material, known as a monomaterial. This approach makes recycling easier by eliminating the need for time-consuming separation of different materials. The three best concepts will be presented as prototypes for the first time at ORGATEC 2026.

While the competition considers the entire product lifecycle from the design stage, use2 addresses what happens to furniture after its first period of use.

The concept involves taking back office furniture, regardless of its manufacturer, and enabling its professional refurbishment and return to circulation. Depending on its condition and potential, furniture is refurbished, upcycled or sent for recycling. Products that return to use following professional refurbishment offer a level of quality comparable to that of new furniture.

The two approaches complement each other: designing for durability and recyclability is followed by initiatives that extend the useful life of furniture. Together, they form a coherent approach to keeping products and materials in circulation for as long as possible.
Approximately 20 new products for workplaces and public spaces
At ORGATEC 2026, Nowy Styl and Kusch+Co will unveil approximately 20 new products alongside the latest solutions from their portfolios. Their joint exhibition will bring together the expertise of both brands, highlighting the broad range of possibilities for furnishing workplaces and public spaces.

Nowy Styl is one of Europe's leading providers of furniture solutions. Together with its brands Forum, Sitag and SOHOS, the company draws on its knowledge and experience to develop comprehensive solutions for workplaces and public environments.

Kusch+Co complements this offering with its expertise in design and furnishing environments with specific requirements – from offices and healthcare facilities to airports, hotels and educational institutions.

The joint presentation also reflects the overarching theme of ORGATEC 2026: “From rooms to relationships: designing spaces in an ever-changing world”. After all, the way we design interiors influences how people work, communicate, concentrate and feel.

Experts from both brands will be available to meet visitors in Hall 6.1, at Stand C-028.

We invite you to visit us and discover how acoustics, design and a responsible approach to resources can come together to shape the spaces of tomorrow.
