A reunion of young scientists during the 24. Nowy Styl Charity Ball

  • A reunion of young scientists during the 24. Nowy Styl Charity Ball

This is the 24. time Nowy Styl organised a ball for the children and youth from orphanages and educational and care facilities in the Podkarpacie region. The participants were surprised by a special guest - Santa, aided by his helpers, handed round Christmas gifts to address the most urgent needs of families, facilities, and local charities.

The charity ball was first organised in 2000. Each edition, including this one, follows a unique scenario and includes a range of attractions designed for children and youth. The highlight of this event is handing round gifts, followed by a disco, which lasts long into the night. This time was no different!
About 1100 children from Podkarpacie (350 of them with disabilities) were invited to the sports and entertainment hall in Krosno. They were wards of 40 educational and care facilities. They were joined by a group of young Ukrainian refugees, who reached Krosno and nearby towns when they fled from the war.

The leading motif of this year’s ball was a meeting of young scientists. That’s why we joined forces with our partners to prepare competitions and games around this theme. We hope the children will have fun and wonderful, lasting memories of this event.

Spectacular presentations of chemical and physical experiments were a great opportunity for the kids to see how scientific knowledge can be applied in practice.

During the entire event, the participants could test their knowledge of science and technology. Correct answers were rewarded with gifts.
  • During the ball, we also presented the outcome of the art competition focused on Polish scientists, their inventions, and discoveries.

  • The authors of the best works in two categories (drawings/paintings, and 3D design) received prizes useful for their facilities.

The guests could try their hand at chemical and physical experiments, and see how models are made on a 3D printer.

At our stand, we presented the process of preparing a model for print. We explained the factors that affect the duration and quality of printing and showcased the materials that can be used. The Q&A session that followed went on forever! Since we saw the children were fascinated, we prepared customised keyfobs for them. All of them were made on our 3D printer during the ball.

The highlight of the party was the visit of Santa, who was aided by Jerzy Krzanowski, the originator of the ball, and Karolina Manikowska, Marketing Director at Nowy Styl. Together they handed round presents to the representatives of all the facilities and charity organisations. The gifts were funded by Nowy Styl, as usual.  This year the facilities and charity organisations asked mainly for cash to fund their statutory activity and current needs. Nowy Styl also donated a desk, chairs, and pouffes to the facilities.
We are happy that this year’s edition of the ball in Krosno could take place as traditionally intended. This is the first edition after two years of the pandemic break. In 2021 and 2022 we only donated gifts and provided support to the charities without organising an event.
We would like to thank all the partners for their help and involvement!

Our partners on this occasion were:
  • The Podkarpacie Business Club
  •  Children’s Technical University in Jasło, supported by Nowy Styl
  • The Dr. Clown Foundation
  •  The Nowy Styl R&D Centre
  • The ‘Hydropolis’ Hydrological Education Centre in Wrocław
  •  Ama Kids - Mental Arithmetic
  • The “ESPRIT” Chemistry Association at the Rzeszów University of Technology
We’re already starting to prepare the next year’s edition of the ball. Meanwhile, explore the video and photo gallery from this year’s event. Together we have proved that science and fun can go together!
