Daruma dolls are part of a Japanese tradition: they are believed to help people accomplish their goals. The dolls originally come with blank eyes. When you start an important project or challenge, you paint one eye on the doll and display the figure on view. Daruma doll is there to remind you that perseverance and consistency are the key to success. When the goal is accomplished, you paint the other eye on the daruma doll. Another element that shows respect for tradition can be found in the office of the managing director in charge of this branch, Heiko Twellmann. On his desk, next to the computer screen, there are two red daruma dolls. These figures are believed to offer protection and help when you need perseverance to complete a project. The first daruma doll has only one eye, which means the project in question is still under way. The other one is staring at us with both eyes, which means the challenge it was designated to take care of is complet- ed. Heiko Twellmann turns the latter doll in his hands as he explains that the challenge was moving to the new office. – When you’re arranging a new office, you think about the next few, maybe dozen years. You have to invest in such solutions and equipment that will pro- vide comfort to your employees today and in the future. That’s why you need to go for quality and reliability, just like when you’re buying a new car. We’ve chosen Nowy Styl, because we were convinced they can guarantee the high- est standard. And we were right. The company helped us arrange a pleasant, attractive and comfortable workplace, where information exchange is swift, which is, in my opinion, crucial if you want to be successful nowadays. You can therefore say that Nowy Styl, hand in hand with our team, painted the other eye on this doll – the director smiles and puts the figure back. Images above: daruma doll has become a symbol of the collaboration between Toyota and Nowy Styl. Daruma だるま 24
