Kraków Office of Nowy Styl
42 Building an office community Employees want to get to know each other and spend time to- gether: we know that from events they have initiated. They have organised a National Ugly Holiday Sweater Day, or Santa Claus cel- ebrations, when we all came to work wearing Christmas sweaters and brought treats we had made ourselves, to celebrate that day together. Office Christmas Party was another initiative. Our com- pany holds Christmas dinner parties out of the office. But employ- ees wanted to have another Christmas event in the office too. They made their own Christmas dishes, brought musical instruments Employee initiatives and we sang carols and ate pastries until late in the evening. We then published a commemorative cookbook with our employees’ recipes from that event. There are more events like that, such as Women’s Day, held here over the first few months in the new of- fice. We always hold them in our Food Garden, which can be re- arranged as needed thanks to the mobile furniture used there. We have decorated a wall in the Food Garden with framed photos of our various office events, to remind us about all those great mo- ments spent together. The new office is where employees integrate: our kitchen, the Food Garden, has already hosted celebrations such as Christmas Eve and Women’s Day. We believe that good atmosphere improves workers’ well-be- ing and relationships between them. One of the objectives of our new office was to integrate the individual teams. Spatial solutions streamline integration, but we did not settle for them only. We want to introduce various activities to keep building our office community and make it possible for our employees’ ideas to be implemented. A TV screen we have in the Food Garden is a great tool to communicate such events, in addition to mailings and the intranet. This is where we display various types of information, so people can take a peek while having a meal.
