36 Desk-sharing often meets with controversial reception. Not hav- ing their own desk evokes a sense of loss in employees. On the other hand, an assigned workstation that is empty for 40% of the time is just inefficient. We had tested desk-sharing before, in our previous office spac- es. We implemented this solution for high-mobility departments whose responsibilities require a lot of meetings in and out of the office, and whose desks were frequently empty. We wanted to test desk-sharing in our own company, to be able to share experiences with our customers and also to check the real impact of this solution on our work. Therefore, we kept moni- toring employee satisfaction and we asked people for feedback. Desk-sharing: afraid of the unknown? Five-point scale It turns out that people’s opinion about desk-sharing improves a lot once they have a chance to get to know it in practice. Comparison analysis of employee feedback on desk-sharing over time has shown that the longer the employees worked in that system, the better their reviews of the solution were.
