Kraków Office of Nowy Styl
Ergonomic workstation: the cornerstone of office comfort As experts in workspace arrangement, we realise how important ergonomics and work comfort are in the office. They are the corner- stone of any efficient office space. When you feel uncomfortable, your chair is too hard and your desk is too small to accommodate all of your work tools and materials, there is no way your work can be efficient and give you satisfaction. In our Kraków office, all employees have height-adjustable sit- to-stand desks, so everyone can decide whether they want to work sitting down or standing up. Frequent changes of body position are extremely important for a healthy spine. Every workstation is also provided with the right swivel chair. Contrary to appearances, movement is they key word as far as office chairs are concerned. Chairs in our office are fitted with a mechanism that allows free movement while sitting. Backrest in the Xenium Duo-Back, which is the chair most of our employees sit in, adjusts to the seated person’s back with every move and supports it in every position. Also a lumbar support system is an important element of the chair, as it allows you to adjust the shape of the backrest in the lumbar area. Chairs in our desk-sharing zone are not assigned to individu- al workers, so it was essential for us to make sure they offer easy height adjustment (of both the seat and the backrest) and can be adjusted to people of varying weights and heights. With ergonomic office chairs, it is essential to provide users with suitable training, so that they know how to adjust the chair to suit their needs and fully utilise its functionalities. On the first day at work, all employees attended a workstation walkthrough pre- pared by our colleagues from the training department. An ergo- nomics expert showed how to adjust the chair to suit employees’ individual needs and provided individual consultation. You can say that everything in our office encourages employ- ees to move. They have no printers or scanners on their desks, so to use these devices they have to go to shared copy points located in different parts of the office. Employees, especially those with no assigned workstations, circulate around the office. During their normal working day, they can work at a desk in the desk-sharing space, then attend a meeting in one of many meeting rooms, and later get lunch and a cup of coffee in the Food Garden. 29
