Kraków Office of Nowy Styl

18 Problems identified The main problem that we had seen on a daily basis, and the ob- servation was supported by study results, was difficult communi- cation between our offices. Having three offices in different parts of Kraków significantly hampered collaboration and relationships. Aware of the importance of a quick flow of information and knowl- edge, and of the significance of spontaneous conversations and informal communication between employees, we wanted to have one office for all teams. This objective impacted several of our decisions at a later stage. It required us to find a sufficiently big office space on a single floor, and it also affected the functional Features of the previous offices that called for improvement Number of meeting rooms Acoustics Access to natural light Appearance of the office (aesthetics) Other Office layout (distribution of rooms) Space available to an employee within the department’s workspace Temperature 58% 40% 38% 36% 27% 24% 22% 20% layout of the office. It had to provide for an adequate number of meeting spaces and common areas, where communication could take place freely. Spaces in our existing Kraków locations did not fully accom- modate the needs of the people working there. They did not have enough areas where they could meet and make phone calls. Areas for quiet and concentrated work were too scarce too. Our study showed people were not fully happy with their office spaces, in which they had to spend eight hours a day, every day.
