Siemens Campus Erlangen Case study

The offices at the Siemens Campus Erlangen have been designed in line with the latest knowledge on efficient working. It is a place with no shortage of ergonomic and adapted solutions . A large part of the office areas was planned according to the desk-sharing principle. Employees do not have a fixed desk and can therefore change it every day to adapt their workspace to current ongoing projects. Teams from different departments can get together in different constellations depending on their needs. This makes daily commu- nication much faster and easier. There is also no struggle for better seats because every employee has access to ergonomic ones. There are over 7,000 of them in these buildings! Electrically powered height-adjustable desks can be quickly and easily adapted to the individual needs of employees, with the flexibility to switch between sitting and standing working positions. This promotes a preventative, flexible and active working style. There are many spaces in offices that support employees in specific tasks. For example, some phone calls require privacy or particular peace and solitude. For such important conversations, several seclusion areas have been set up in the campus offices. In a so-called phone box, employees are not distracted by noise from the open space, nor do they disturb others. The combination of bar stool and standing table ensures that the caller is always in a comfortable sitting or standing position, even during long and intensive calls. The campus also has several areas for focused work. The employees can use these rooms flexibly as a place of retreat for individual work or meetings – entirely according to their current needs.
